巨人は２５日、春季那覇キャンプを打ち上げた。
原監督は「モタという選手があれほど伸びている。非常に存在感もある」と自ら名前を挙げ、今キャンプで猛アピールした育成選手の右打者・モタを称賛した。
キャンプＭＶＰはモタか、と聞かれると「そうだね。今まではね。しかし、今までのＭＶＰはそれほど価値あるものではない。それはそれとして、今後さらにステップ、ジャンプという形になってもらいたい」とさらなる奮起に期待した。
