The Kentucky Derby, otherwise known as the Run for the Roses, takes place on Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
That's far from all, as the NBA and NHL playoffs continue with second-round action while MLB's best player is showcased in Mexico. And the English Premier League title race with Manchester City (92 points) and Liverpool (91) could go down to the wire as the season moves closer to its conclusion.

Kentucky Derby
The mile-and-a-quarter race for 3-year-old thoroughbreds is expected to attract more than 150,000 spectators. The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of racing's prestigious Triple Crown, which also consists of the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore and the Belmont Stakes in Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
Horses to watch at this year's race are all trained by two-time Triple Crown winner Bob Baffert: Game Winner, Roadster and Improbable. The favorite, Omaha Beach, was scratched earlier this week after being diagnosed with entrapped epiglottis. Jockey Mike Smith, who won the Triple Crown last year, was set to ride Omaha Beach and now will be aboard Cutting Humor.

English Premier League: Newcastle vs Liverpool
This is basically a must-win for Liverpool to keep title hopes alive. Not everyone wants to see that happen, though. Tim Howard, the former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper who plays for the Colorado Rapids, recently told CNN, "I hope Liverpool never win a title while I'm still breathing."

UFC: Fight Night 151
UFC Fight Night 151's main event will be a lightweight bout between "Ragin" Al Iaquinta and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. While Cerrone will be looking to bank his third consecutive win, Iaquinta hasn't lost a match since mid-2018, when Khabib Nurmagomedov beat him by unanimous decision. Other fights on the main card to watch include Derek Brunson vs. Elias Theodorou and Shane Burgos vs Cub Swanson.

NBA playoffs: Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets
Yes, there are three other playoff series going on, but the majority of the attention is centered on this one, which is in its second round, game 3. The current focus is on Rockets star James Harden, who said he could "barely see" after getting hit in both eyes in game 2. Warriors lead the series 2-0.

Boxing: Canelo Alvarez vs Daniel Jacobs
A three-time world champion, Alvarez is a well known elite fighter. Jacobs, meanwhile, is nicknamed the "Miracle Man." Diagnosed with bone cancer in 2011, Jacobs was temporarily paralyzed by a tumor wrapped around his spine. Now he is a middleweight champion.

NHL Stanley Cup playoffs: New York Islanders vs Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes can sweep the best-of-seven series at home on Friday. Earlier this season, famed Canadian hockey commentator Don Cherry didn't like Carolina's unique post-game celebrations, calling the Hurricanes a "bunch of jerks." Now they're five wins away from playing for the Stanley Cup. Should the Islanders extend the series, game 5 will be Sunday in New York. Carolina leads the series 3-0.

MLB: Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels
Mike Trout and the Angels face the Astros in Monterrey, Mexico. Houston will "host" this two-game series on Saturday and Sunday, the latter being nationally televised.
