Score big savings on phones, games and more in eBay's Memorial Day event

Memorial Day is a time for honoring those that gave their lives while serving, and spending time with our family, friends and loved ones. While Monday is dedicated to solemnly reflecting on those who were lost, the days leading up to the holiday have become the unofficial mark of the summer season, with retailers responding with deals and discounts as families spend time together over the course of the long weekend. To help limit your time searching for sales so you can spend more time relaxing, CNN Underscored is rounding up the top markdowns to shop right now.

eBay doesn't think Memorial Day sales should start and end on May 27. Instead, eBay has created a weeklong event of savings, with deals running from now until Memorial Day. You can expect discounts across tech, home, garden, appliances and much more.

You can visit eBay's deal section to see everything that's up for grabs at discounted prices, and we'll be highlighting our favorites here. For starters, the just-announced Google Pixel 3a smartphone (yes, the affordable Pixel that still packs in a terrific camera) is seeing its first discount, bringing the price from $399 to just $370. It's only a small 7% off, but you're getting a just-released phone in a factory unlocked state.

When we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone earlier this year, we thought it was powerful with a vibrant display and a great set of three cameras. At eBay, the S10+ with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM is on sale for $700. That's 30% off the normal retail of $999.99.

If you want to expand your Google Home ecosystem or dive in as a newcomer, a Google Home Hub for $74.99 is certainly a great option. That's 50% off the MSRP of $149.99, and will give you access to a smart assistant with a screen. You can control smart home products like bulbs, door locks and outlets. Also, you can stream music on it and watch YouTube.
